We asked for a room with a city view and this was provided as we could see the cathedral and some of the castle roofs. The room was quiet and very comfortable but at the back of this large hotel in a kind of annex, not a real problem. All staff were helpful and we had no problems other than a slowish wifi with no password security; I preferred not to use it therefore given we had a short stay. The breakfast room was very attractive and spacious indeed; breakfast was very appealing as were the helpful staff. The overall location was excellent being in sight of the centre and about 10 - 15 minutes walk from the station. I rated it GOOD but really I would prefer to assign VERY GOOD.

Good central location, friendly staff, comfortable bed, en suite with a bath. Very useful to have the mini fridge and to be able to leave our luggage for no extra charge both pre and post check out. Good to have a kettle in the room (at first we thought there wasn't one but we found it hidden in a cupboard along with teabags etc). The dark heavy furniture may not be to everyone's taste but modern furniture probably wouldn't suit this Grade 2 listed building. We found the following website useful for exploring Durham by foot which included info about this hotel: https://www.thisisdurham.com/things-to-do/digital-walking-tour-of-durham-p1020131

The property was so comfortable and so very close to the centre of Durham. The standout for us was the excellent service of the staff. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They were so positive welcoming and responsive. We even received a Christmas stocking with sweet treats on our door on Christmas morning . Thank you Delta Hotels Marriott Durham Royal county for making our family Christmas in Durham so special and lovely.

Lovely location, just where we needed to be.close to the charms of the city centre, Cathedral and Castle within easy walking distance. We had a really spacious family room on the ground floor with two double beds, a living area with a bed settee and two large flat screen tv's. Bathroom with a shower over the bath and a fridge in cupboard under a tv. Very peaceful rooms, no trouble sleeping, air conditioning units in both rooms

Perfect location for tourist to old town. Staff were all above average in delivering professional service in a pleasant manner. Breakfast was self service with option of items being brought from kitchen. Everything was well cooked, in a relaxed atmosphere. On site parking at £11 per 24 hours which for the location I thought good value.
